Yesterday I along with my family, had been to a restaurant, called ‘Mirchi and Mime’ in Mumbai. Just like any other fine-dining restaurant, it had a good ambiance, great food as expected. But what impressed me the most was their unique concept, of having hearing and speech impaired wait staff. We were greeted in sign language accompanied by a beaming smile, which put a smile on all our faces too. The menu had the instructions of how to place order using sign language, making non-verbal communication easier for us and like that, we also became of part of the mime.
Here I am reminded of a language which is beyond words. Listening using ears, is ‘hearing’ but to listen we have to have a heart.
There are so many things that we can listen to! Some of them, I thought are worth sharing:

Listen to the smile:
It makes us happy, feel encouraged and boosts up our self esteem.
Listen to the sadness:
We can be of a great help to somebody if we just listen to their problems. The problems may remain the same, but their weight on the person decreases exponentially. Problem shared is problem half solved and remember, when somebody complains, don’t consider it as a blame. This might speak of the trust that they have on us.
Listen to the happiness:
The happiness will multiply, both ways.
Listen to the tears:
Every tear has a story, and the story always has a message that needs to be heard.
Listen to the helplessness:
We can always answer it with love, respect and attention.

IN CONCLUSION, AND MOST IMPORTANTLY, LISTEN TO YOUR CONSCIENCE, YOUR HEART AND YOUR SOUL!

HAPPY RIDING ON THE MOOD SWINGS!

ARUNA.
